INTRODUCTION
World steel semis market (58-60 mln tonnes per year) has undergone some serious changes both in terms of prices and trade flows over recent years, with single country - China – being the major reason of all those alterations having incresed slabs and billets exports in 2005-2006 and then reduced it drastically in 2007.
What should we expect in the four years to come, when steel industry in Middle East (the whole region!) will be booming and new steelmaking and steel-rolling capacities coming on stream one after another each year.
Besides, India has started to export billets regardless of the introduction of 15% customs duty… Turkey has become a net exporter of slabs and further export growth is quite possible within the next 2 years… Several export-oriented slab projects are to be performed in Brazil…
Billet and slab markets dynamics, prices and volumes, traditional and new market players – these are the issues to be discussed at the World Steel Semis Market conference.
